I’ll blog every day for 30 days as I complete the Bikram Yoga 30-Day Challenge.

Why? Because I gotta.

But seriously, I gotta. Here’s why:

1.) t’s intriguing. I’ve heard stories about hot yoga changing the way people think, act & live. The temptation of a way to enlightenment is just too much for me to resist, especially when the price tag is only $30.00.

2.) It’s challenging. I’m not a fan of heat or holding poses for long periods of time, so the idea of holding long poses in a hot room is exactly the opposite of my dream work-out. But I haven’t forced myself into a tough physical challenge in a while and I’m starting to get soft.

3.) Since January I’ve been taking steps to get healthier. I figure this is a chance to explore a type of fitness I have little experience with and it could help my reach my health goals.

I start my 30 days Wednesday, March 1. I’ll blog after each class about my mood, the experience and anything noteworthy. See you soon!

A recent study conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health indicated that mortality rates between coffee drinkers and non-coffee drinkers were the same (even when the subjects drank up to 6 cups of coffee per day!). Additionally, states Dr. Rob van Dam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health, recent research suggests that drinking coffee REDUCES one’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, liver cancer, liver cirrhosis, and cardiovascular disease.

However, remember that flavour shots and other sugary substances can still be unhealthy, even if they are added to your precious java.
